Japan's LDP Coalition on Track to Claim Majority Win in Polls

(MENAFN) Japan's governing alliance—comprising the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and coalition partner Japan Innovation Party—is on track to claim a commanding majority in the House of Representatives following Sunday's nationwide ballot, according to preliminary exit polling released by a public broadcaster.

Exit survey data combined with electoral analyses indicate the ruling coalition will capture between 302 and 366 legislative seats, comfortably surpassing the 233-seat threshold required for majority control, the broadcaster reported.

The LDP is independently positioned to achieve a single-party majority within the lower chamber, the broadcaster projected.

The broadcaster deployed exit polling operations across more than 4,000 voting locations throughout the nation on election day, collecting feedback from roughly 340,000 participants—representing a 59.7-percent response rate among 571,000 voters approached for the survey.
