I am Professor of Gastrointestinal Biology at the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London where I research the evolution of precancerous lesions as they progress to cancer, focusing on the oesophagus and stomach. My group investigates why most patients with precancerous conditions do not develop cancer in order to better understand cancer risk in those that do. Additionally, I was formerly a trustee of Haemochromatosis UK and am also a patient with iron overload.
