Hanwha Showcases Advanced Multi-Domain Defense Solutions to Accelerate Saudi Vision 2030 at WDS 2026

(MENAFN- hanwha) Feb 4th, 2026 – Hanwha today announced its participation in the World Defense Show (WDS) 2026, held in Riyadh from February 8 to 12. In strong support of Saudi Vision 2030, Hanwha is showcasing a comprehensive range of multi-domain defense solutions designed to address the evolving security landscape of the Middle East. The company is focusing on expanding its strategic footprint in Saudi Arabia through deep localization and industrial cooperation, positioning itself as a core partner for the realization of Vision 2030.
Hanwha’s commitment to Saudi Arabia extends beyond the supply of high-performance equipment to the creation of a self-reliant defense ecosystem. By prioritizing localized production, strategic technology transfer, and the nurturing of local defense talent, Hanwha aims to directly support the Kingdom’s industrial diversification and "Saudization" goals. This long-term commitment ensures that the Kingdom can achieve defense self-sufficiency while maintaining the highest levels of combat readiness through a robust domestic supply chain.
The centerpiece of Hanwha’s display is the full-scale K9A1 Self-Propelled Howitzer, now featuring a South Korean-made engine. This technological advancement ensures a stable, independent supply chain and enhances operational efficiency by removing external regulatory constraints. Leveraging this independence, Hanwha highlights that the K9A1 serves as an optimal model for local production, enabling a robust technology transfer roadmap without restiction. The K9A1, renowned for its 54km firing range, is showcased alongside the K10 Ammunition Resupply Vehicle, demonstrating a fully automated artillery solution.
Further expanding its land portfolio, Hanwha is exhibiting the NIFV-ME next-generation infantry fighting vehicle and the versatile Tigon 8x8 armored vehicle, supported by the Active Protection System (APS). The APS integrates AESA radar, AI-driven analysis, and EO/IR sensors to maximize vehicle survivability in evolving battlefield environments. These platforms are supported by the AI-driven TOMMS MRO platform, ensuring peak combat readiness through predictive maintenance.
In response to the demand for sovereign airspace protection, Hanwha is highlighting an Integrated Multi-Layered Air Defense Architecture. This system synergizes the capabilities of M-SAM and L-SAM to provide a 360-degree defense umbrella against diverse aerial threats across all altitudes.
A key highlight is the debut of the Multi Mission Radar (MMR), which enhances detection and tracking precision. For low-altitude threats, Hanwha presents a sophisticated counter-UAV suite featuring Short-range AESA radars and the Sky Light laser air defense system—the world's first mass-produced laser weapon. All assets are synchronized through an AI-driven Command and Control (C2) system, enabling the coordinated management of multiple defense assets and rapid responses to complex threats.
The Naval Zone features the KSS-III (3,600 Ton Class) submarine, distinguished as the world’s only diesel-electric submarine with SLBM capabilities. Hanwha Ocean highlights its industry-leading naval shipbuilding capabilities and cutting-edge maritime solutions, demonstrating its readiness to address diverse maritime security challenges. In the Space Zone, Hanwha presents AI-based satellite imagery analytics, enabling 24/7, all-weather strategic monitoring and intelligence.
Sung Il, Head of Middle East & North Africa region at Hanwha Aerospace said, "By bringing our most advanced multi-domain solutions to Riyadh, we will demonstrate our commitment to being the Kingdom’s most reliable partner," he added, "We are committed to delivering economic value and fostering industrial growth in Saudi Arabia through strategic localization and long-term cooperation."
