Govt Data Shows Stark Jammukashmir EWS Divide
Government data shows that a total of 26,558 EWS certificates have been issued across the Union Territory so far. Of these, 24,545 certificates were issued in the Jammu division alone, compared to just 2,013 in the Kashmir division.

District-wise figures indicate that Kathua tops the list with 6,972 EWS certificates, followed by Jammu district with 5,881 and Samba with 4,436. In the Kashmir Valley, Anantnag recorded the highest number of certificates at 483, followed by Kulgam with 390 and Baramulla with 332.
The government said that all applications for EWS certificates are examined strictly in accordance with prescribed rules and guidelines. It clarified that certificates are denied only when applicants fail to meet the eligibility conditions laid down under existing norms.
It further stated that cases involving shared residential property with married siblings or other legal co-owners are assessed on an individual basis, and rejection is made only where the required criteria are not fulfilled.
