The Udhampur encounter began around 4 pm on Tuesday after security forces received specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. Acting on the information, troops established contact and tightened the cordon by rushing additional reinforcements.

According to officials, the terrorists were hiding inside a cave and were eliminated in a fierce gunfight. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including an M4 carbine and an AK-series assault rifle, was recovered from the site.

In a post on X, the Army said that troops of CIF Delta and White Knight Corps, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF, launched an intelligence-based joint operation in the general area of Basantgarh. The forces engaged the terrorists continuously to prevent any attempt to break the cordon.

The White Knight Corps later said that two terrorists were successfully neutralised following a calibrated and coordinated response, highlighting seamless inter-agency coordination and tactical precision. The operation in Udhampur has since concluded, though the area remains under surveillance.

Meanwhile, a terrorist was killed in an ongoing encounter in Kishtwar district on Wednesday. The Army said contact was re-established with terrorists hiding in dense forest terrain during a joint operation in the Dichhar area.

In another post on X, the White Knight Corps said the operation, codenamed Operation Trashi-I, involved troops of CIF Delta and White Knight Corps along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF. Contact was re-established around 5:45 pm, leading to the killing of one terrorist. The search operation was continuing at the time of filing this report.
