Amman, Feb. 4 (Petra) – The Ministry of Environment on Wednesday continued its executive program to reduce indiscriminate littering practices by delivering 160 garbage containers with a capacity of 1100 liters each to several tourist and vital areas across the Kingdom.
According to a ministry statement, the southern Ma'an governorate received 70 containers, while 70 others were handed over to Petra district, and 20 for the tourist areas of Berqish and Umm al-Naml in Irbid governorate.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve waste management and maintain public cleanliness level in sites of environmental and touristic importance.
As part of the same program, the ministry also delivered 50 hanging waste bins to the Department of Antiquities for distribution to archaeological sites and areas, which would contribute to enhancing cleanliness and preserving their cultural and heritage value.
The ministry said these steps are part of its ongoing plan to support the competent authorities with the necessary infrastructure to implement waste management and curb negative practices related to random waste disposal.
In cooperation with partners, the ministry said it will continue to distribute garbage containers during the next phase within the executive program.
