Türkiye-Oman Eye USD5B Trade in OMNEX 2026 Summit
(MENAFN) The international commerce summit OMNEX 2026, which launched Monday, advanced Tuesday with intensified discussions aimed at strengthening economic ties between Türkiye and Oman.
OMNEX 2026 is convening in Muscat, the Omani capital, with Anadolu Agency functioning as the global communications partner for the gathering.
A specialized panel discussion unfolded during the event, featuring Turkish Deputy Trade Minister Sezai Ucarmak alongside co-chairs of the Turkey–Oman Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), Yunus Ete and Salim Abdullah Al Rawas.
Ucarmak acknowledged that certain obstacles stemming from Türkiye's geopolitical positioning persist as priority concerns, though initiatives are advancing to address them.
Enhanced overland connectivity between Türkiye and Oman could establish a robust collaborative framework, especially benefiting food and agricultural industries, he noted.
"We don't aim for profit in all our relations, and we always strive for mechanisms that benefit both sides," he stated.
Ete characterized the forum as highly productive thus far, noting scheduled continuation through business-to-business (B2B) networking sessions.
Al Rawas highlighted Oman's free economic zones as compelling draws for capital investment, emphasizing the sultanate's industrial, tourism, commerce and information technology (IT) sectors present substantial opportunities.
"Integration between Turkish and Omani firms will have a positive impact on both economies," he declared. "Oman serves as a gateway for Turkish companies and foreign investors to access large markets with its strategic geographical location and political stability."
Robust Türkiye–Oman diplomatic relations have already facilitated numerous collaborative ventures, with additional projects anticipated in forthcoming periods, he added.
"We must work together to achieve the trade volume target of $5 billion," he concluded.
