PM Calls For Unity Beyond Politics To Drive National Progress
In her statement, the Prime Minister said the country is entering a new chapter with renewed hope, following the formation of a people's government through the collective will of citizens. She noted that the Government has begun building a nation for future generations, grounded in human values, strengthened by skills, and enriched by intellectual capacity.
Dr. Amarasuriya emphasized that every citizen has a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to nation-building based on shared values. She reaffirmed the Government's commitment to key national priorities, including stabilizing the economy on a strong foundation, advancing a new political vision that transforms political practice, and redefining the role of politicians through a renewed political culture.
She also highlighted efforts to guide society with equality, dignity, and compassion, while addressing persistent rural poverty. The Prime Minister said the Government is focused on strengthening welfare systems to protect vulnerable groups, ensuring no one is left behind.
Additional priorities include accelerating digital transformation through modern science and technology and positioning Sri Lanka internationally as a non-aligned nation that engages with all countries based on trust.
Concluding her message, the Prime Minister invited all Sri Lankans to unite with confidence and determination to shape a new era of national renewal.
