Over 10,000 Migrants Detained in Minneapolis Immigration Crackdown

(MENAFN) US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Monday that federal authorities have detained more than 10,000 migrants in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as part of an escalating nationwide immigration enforcement campaign.

"We have arrested over 10,000 criminal illegal aliens who were killing Americans, hurting children and reigning terror in Minneapolis," Noem declared in an official statement.

The Homeland Security chief directed sharp criticism at Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, alleging the officials failed to safeguard local residents and instead shielded "criminals" from federal immigration authorities.

Law enforcement personnel apprehended approximately 3,000 migrants during the preceding six-week period alone, Noem reported.

Minneapolis has emerged as a lightning rod in America's contentious immigration policy battle following a fatal Jan. 7 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation that resulted in the shooting death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.

Good, an American citizen and mother, was killed by an ICE agent during enforcement activities. The incident triggered intense public outcry and political condemnation, with officials at municipal, state, and federal levels now facing mounting pressure to launch comprehensive investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The tragedy has intensified scrutiny of aggressive immigration enforcement tactics and raised fundamental questions about operational protocols during migrant apprehension operations in residential communities.
