National Guard Strengthens Security At Chornobyl NPP And Exclusion Zone

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the commander of the National Guard, Brigadier General Oleksandr Pivnenko, announced this on Facebook.

Pivnenko stressed that this is a systematic effort not only on the front lines, but also in all regions of the country.

“An important component of overall security is reliable protection of border areas, effective counteraction to sabotage threats, development of fortifications, and constant analysis of threats,” the commander emphasized.

During his working trip, he inspected the operation of checkpoints, the arrangement of defenses, the condition of strongholds, and the readiness of units guarding facilities at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and in the exclusion zone.

In addition, over the past few months, measures have been taken to strengthen the security and combat readiness of units, in particular by increasing personnel and equipping units with modern weapons, anti-tank missile systems, mortars, and air defense systems.

Pivnenko also stressed the importance of developing unmanned systems, noting that they provide continuous monitoring of the situation and increase readiness for rapid response. He also emphasized the importance of interagency coordination to ensure the sustainability of defense and the protection of critical infrastructure.

As reported by Ukrinform, in August last year, Pivnenko inspected the unit performing tasks related to the defense of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
