Yemen's Prime Minister Quits, Replaced By Foreign Minister
Yemen's presidential leadership council has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Salem bin Breik and appointed Foreign Minister Shaya Mohsen Zindani as the country's new prime minister, the state news agency Saba reported on Thursday.
Bin Breik formally submitted the resignation, which was approved by the council, before Zindani was named to form the next cabinet, Saba said.
Recommended For YouThe statement published on Saba cited "efforts to restore state institutions" and "strengthen the unity of sovereign decision-making" as reasons for the premier's resignation.

The current government will continue to manage affairs, excluding appointments and dismissals, until the new government is formed, the presidential council added.
Yemen has seen heightened tensions in recent months, with several factions looking to control areas across the country.
The Southern Transitional Council (STC), the main southern separatist group, pushed the internationally recognised government from its headquarters in Aden while claiming broad control across the south in December.
However, de-escalation and development efforts are currently underway.
Saudi Arabia is to invest over $500 million in development projects in Yemen, the Kingdom's defence minister said in January.
The UAE also called on the international community to redouble its efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in Yemen and the region, Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, the country's Permanent Representative to the UN, said during a Security Council meeting on Yemen.
