Brazilian Agribusiness Sets Export Record In 2025
Commenting on the results, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Carlos Fávaro attributed them to the government's strategy of diversifying products and destinations, as well as to the resilience and efforts of Brazilian farmers. According to him, producers supplied enough to meet domestic demand-helping to keep prices under control-and exported the surplus, generating jobs, income, and development for the country through an increasingly technological and sustainable agribusiness sector.
According to the ministry, Brazilian agribusiness opened 525 new markets from 2023 through the end of 2025. As stated by the ministry's Secretary for Trade and International Relations, Luís Rua, these markets generated around USD 4 billion in additional foreign-exchange revenue. Exports were also boosted by Brazil's record grain harvest of 352.2 million metric tons in the 2024/2025 season, 17% higher than the previous cycle. There were also record production levels in beef, pork, and poultry.
Buyers and productsChina was the largest foreign buyer of Brazilian agribusiness products in 2025, with purchases totaling USD 55.3 billion, accounting for 32.7% of exports and an 11% increase. Next came the European Union and the United States. Among the leadingmain export items, soybeans remained the leading product, generating USD 43.5 billion in revenue, up 1.4%, with a record shipped volume of 108.2 million tons, a 9.5% increase.
SurplusBrazil's imports of agribusiness products totaled USD 20.2 billion last year, up 4.4% from 2024. As a result, the agribusiness trade balance-the difference between exports and imports-posted a surplus of USD 149.07 billion for Brazil.
