Xinjiang Achieves Nearly All Rural E-Commerce Coverage

(MENAFN) E-commerce has now reached nearly all rural communities in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, thanks to a fully established network of county-level service centers, logistics hubs, and township-level distribution stations.

According to the regional department of commerce, township commercial centers and village convenience stores have achieved record coverage rates of 96.56 percent and 98.92 percent, respectively.

This progress follows the launch of a three-year national action plan for county-level commerce in 2023, issued by the Ministry of Commerce along with eight other government agencies.

The initiative has strengthened Xinjiang’s commercial and logistics systems, improving the movement of industrial goods into rural areas and agricultural products into urban markets.

Between 2021 and 2025, Xinjiang received 548 million yuan (around 78 million U.S. dollars) in central government funding, supporting nearly 400 projects.

During this period, 255 county-level comprehensive service centers were constructed or upgraded—an increase of 45.7 percent compared to 2021.

Li Xuan, deputy director of the regional department of commerce, emphasized that the region will continue to energize county-level markets and harness rural consumption potential.
