Russian Military Plane Crashes Northeast Of Moscow
Moscow: The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the crash of a military transport aircraft in the Ivanovo region, located northeast of the capital, Moscow.
In a release on Tuesday, the ministry stated that a military transport plane, an An-22, crashed in an isolated area of Ivanovo while on a test flight. The statement clarified that the plane went down in an uninhabited region "during a test flight following repair work."
Separately, a source in the rescue services told the Russian news agency TASS that seven people were likely aboard the aircraft. Meanwhile, a statement from the Russian Investigative Committee confirmed that all crew members who were on the plane perished.
Russian authorities have not yet clarified whether the incident was due to technical reasons or was connected to the war with Ukraine.
