Katarina Båth
- Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature, Lund University
I am Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature and affiliated researcher at the Birgit Rausing Centre for Medical Humanities (BRCMH).
My research concerns Romantic philosophy and literature through queer and psychoanalytic perspectives, literary trauma studies in dialogue with bibliotherapy, as well as creative writing and narrative medicine.
My dissertation examined Romantic irony and subjectivity in P.D.A. Atterbom. I then explored literature's therapeutic potential in the postdoc project Trauma as Literature – Literature as Therapy, which combined literary analysis with interviews. From October 2025 I join Katarina Bernhardsson's project on narrative medicine, investigating the role of narratives, narration and creative writing in medical education and practice.
Overall, I am interested in literature's capacity to heal and transform, both individually and collectively. I teach with an emancipatory approach and include elements of creative writing when I can.
