Srinagar- The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a police official accused of cheating several people by falsely promising them government jobs.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 15/2025 under Section 420 of the IPC was filed before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Pulwama, against Riyaz Ahmad Dar of Naroo Ratnipora, Pulwama. Officials said Dar was serving as a head constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police at the time of the alleged offence and was posted with the 21st Battalion.
The case began after the EOW Srinagar received information that the police official was allegedly misusing his position to extract money from job seekers by offering fake assurances of securing government jobs.
ADVERTISEMENTA preliminary enquiry was initiated and investigators found material suggesting that Dar had taken money from several individuals after claiming he could use his influence to arrange employment for them. Once the allegations were substantiated, a case under Section 420 IPC was registered and a detailed investigation followed.
Statements of victims were recorded and financial transactions scrutinised to track the alleged flow of money. The probe concluded that the accused had engaged in deliberate misrepresentation, leading to financial loss to multiple individuals.
