Israeli army demolishes homes east of Gaza City

(MENAFN) Israeli forces conducted large-scale demolitions on Saturday evening, destroying multiple homes in areas they control on the eastern side of Gaza City. According to general reports citing eyewitness accounts, several residential structures in the Shejaiya district were blown up, producing powerful blasts heard across much of the city.

Witnesses described dense plumes of smoke rising from the destroyed buildings. Debris was reportedly propelled into nearby neighborhoods due to the force of the explosions.

Recent days have seen a sharp escalation in Israeli ground, sea, and air operations across zones under its control. According to accounts from observers and local reporting, strikes have affected eastern Gaza City, Beit Lahiya in the north, the eastern sector of the Al-Bureij refugee camp, and areas spanning Rafah, Al-Qarara, and Bani Suhaila near Khan Younis.

General reporting from Gaza’s media office states that Israel has repeatedly breached the ceasefire agreement established with Hamas, documenting hundreds of violations and more than 342 Palestinian deaths since Oct. 10.

Broad estimates indicate that since October 2023, Israeli military actions have resulted in nearly 70,000 fatalities—predominantly women and children—and over 170,900 injured, leaving vast portions of the Gaza Strip severely devastated.
