• Launches Construction Of Homes For Flood-hit Families In Ramban, Udhampur

• 'Victims To Get 189 Three-Room Houses Within Six Months'

Srinagar- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the construction of new homes for families affected by recent natural calamities in Ramban and Udhampur.
The project includes the rebuilding of 189 fully damaged homes in Ramban at a cost of Rs 18 crore and 341 homes in Udhampur at a cost of Rs 34 crore. The construction cost of the three-bedroom prefabricated Smart Homes will be borne entirely by the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India).

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor thanked HRDS India for supporting the rehabilitation efforts and asked the district administration to ensure that all genuine beneficiaries are included.
“I will personally ensure that every poor affected family has a roof over their heads,” he said.

In the first phase, 1,500 homes will be constructed across the Union Territory for families affected by natural calamities and unprovoked shelling during Operation Sindoor. The work is expected to be completed within six months. The homes will be built using prefabricated techniques aimed at providing safer and more resilient structures.

HRDS India will also provide free life insurance to all family members for 15 years, annual health checkups, maintenance for five years, and facilities such as cowsheds as part of the housing package.

The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the efforts of the district administration, police, army, CAPFs, Disaster Response Forces, emergency responders, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, J&K Bank, civil society groups and volunteers involved in the relief and rescue operations.
