Russian Attack On Kyiv: Rescuer Extinguishes Fire In His Own Apartment

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported this on Telegram and published a photo of the rescuer standing in the ruins of his home.

"Serhii Vlasenko is a rescuer from Kyiv. In the photo, he stands among the ruins of his apartment, which Russia destroyed tonight. Serhii is a person who embodies the strength and character of the service. He is 35, and has spent 15 of those years in service. A squad commander who has seen and extinguished hundreds of fires during this time and has saved people in the most difficult conditions," Klymenko noted.

According to him, that night Serhii was on duty when a Russian drone flew into the building where he lived with his family.

"The apartment where life was in full swing just yesterday burned to the ground. At home were Serhii's mother, his wife with their 5-year-old son, and 8-month-old daughter. They managed to react to the air-raid alert in time, and that saved their lives," he added.

He also noted that when rescuers arrived at the scene, Serhii saw that his own apartment was on fire. And he continued his work, extinguishing the flames that engulfed his home and clearing the damaged structures to reach the children's room.

As Klymenko stated, this was a difficult trial, but he withstood it just as he does every "combat" shift: professionally and clearly.

"Serhii and his family lost their home. We did not leave them alone. They have already received keys to a service apartment. This is the system's responsibility to those who save others every day," he said.

According to him, such stories remind us that rescuers are not just a service.

"These are people who have children, parents, homes. And even when their own home gets destroyed, they are still the first to go help others," Klymenko stressed, adding: "Thank you, Serhii. And thanks to everyone who stands by people during every loud night."

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of November 13-14, the Russian army attacked Ukraine with 430 drones and 19 missiles, most of which were ballistic. The main target was the capital.

The consequences of the enemy attack were recorded in nine districts of Kyiv.

Among the damaged sites was a building in the Desnianskyi district of the capital. Debris removal continues there. As of now, six deaths are known.
