Riyadh: Qatar's equestrian team comprising Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani, Ghanem Nasser Al Qadi, and Mohammed Khalifa Al Baker qualified for the final round of the showjumping competition at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games Riyadh 2025 yesterday.

Sheikh Ali finished the second qualifying round in first place without any faults, while Al Qadi finished in thirteenth place with 4 penalty points, and Al Baker finished in 22nd place with 12 penalty points.

The riders will compete in the final round on Saturday, aiming for a place on the podium.

Qatar national volleyball team finished fourth in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, the Qatar national volleyball team lost to Bahrain 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 20-25) in the match for third place, thus finishing fourth and missing out on the bronze medal.

In men's handball, Qatar will being their campaign against Iran in Group A on Friday. The group also includes UAE and Maldives. Our national handball team begins its campaign today in the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games with a tough match against Iran in Group A, which also includes the UAE and Maldives.

Qatar had won the handball gold medal in the previous edition of the Games in Konya, Turkiye in 2022, defeating the hosts in the final. The women's duathlon competitions will also begin on Friday. Qatari athlete Alia Al Hamad is among the participants. The final race consists of a 5km run, a 20km bike ride, and a final 2.5km run.

Turkiye continue to lead the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games standings with 94 medals, including 53 gold, 25 silver, and 16 bronze. Uzbekistan are in second with 46 medals (15 gold, 17 silver, and 14 bronze), followed by Egypt in third place with 27 medals (10 gold, 6 silver, and 11 bronze).
