Türkiye Records USD1.1 Billion Current Account Surplus


(MENAFN) Türkiye's current account registered a surplus of $1.1 billion in September, according to an announcement from the Turkish Central Bank on Wednesday.

This follows earlier surpluses of $5.45 billion in August and $1.77 billion in July, while an Anadolu survey had anticipated a surplus of $1.5 billion for September.

Excluding gold and energy, the current account reflected a net surplus of $6.8 billion, whereas the trade of goods showed a deficit of $5.4 billion, the central bank reported.

In terms of services, net inflows reached $7.7 billion during September, with transportation services contributing $2.3 billion and travel services generating $6.3 billion in net revenue.

For the January-September period, the overall current account recorded a $14.89 billion deficit, while the goods trade deficit amounted to $49.8 billion.

Over the same timeframe, the services sector achieved a net surplus of $48.7 billion.

In contrast, primary and secondary income accounts posted net deficits of $13.4 billion and $427 million, respectively.
