(MENAFN) Turkish mobile network operator Turkcell has announced a strategic collaboration with Google to provide "Google Cloud services" across various sectors in Türkiye.

The partnership was made public on Wednesday, highlighting the companies’ plans to jointly enhance cloud capabilities in the country.

Under the agreement, Turkcell will cooperate with Google Cloud to supply the necessary infrastructure for a forthcoming "Google Cloud region" in Türkiye.

The operator indicated that its financial commitment associated with this initiative could reach $1 billion by the end of 2032.

The alliance is anticipated to become functional between 2028 and 2029, while also broadening Turkcell’s portfolio of data centers.

“As a trusted Google Cloud partner, Turkcell will build on its strong role as a leading provider of cloud infrastructure and services, and will also act as a reseller of Google Cloud services in the market,” the company stated.

“This will deepen support for organizations of all sizes and industries across Türkiye to accelerate their transition to the cloud and fully leverage its benefits.”

Turkcell emphasized that the proposed cloud region will offer localized infrastructure in Türkiye, giving clients increased oversight of data location and helping satisfy data residency regulations.

The operator further explained that the new region is designed to enhance Türkiye’s digital landscape by delivering high-speed, low-latency access to "Google Cloud services," empowering advanced functions in areas such as data analytics, application modernization, cybersecurity, and digital business solutions.
