International leaders offer condolences to Türkiye after plane crash


(MENAFN) Leaders and governments from across the world expressed condolences to Türkiye on Tuesday after a Turkish military cargo plane crashed in Georgia.

The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Tufan Erhurman, conveyed his sorrow over the incident, saying he learned of the crash “with great sadness,” and wished patience to “the families, loved ones, and the people of Türkiye.” TRNC Prime Minister Unal Ustel and Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertugruloglu also shared messages of support, emphasizing the Turkish Cypriot people’s solidarity with Türkiye and offering prayers for the soldiers who lost their lives.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a condolence message to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressing grief over the fatalities. Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev similarly conveyed his “deep condolences” to the Turkish people and the families of the victims.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif shared his sorrow on social media, stating that he was “saddened by the tragic crash of the Turkish C-130 aircraft in Georgia.” He added: “Heartfelt condolences to my dear brother President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the families of those on board and to our Turkish brothers and sisters. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this moment of grief.” In a separate statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the country “stands in full solidarity with its Turkish brothers and sisters.”

Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry also expressed “deep sorrow over the incident of the Turkish military transport aircraft crash” in a social media post.
