(MENAFN- Live Mint) The Jammu and Kashmir Police detained a preacher from Mewat in Haryana in connection with the 'white collar' terror module operating from a university in Faridabad, officials said on Wednesday.

The preacher was identified as Hafeez Mohammad Ishtiaq. According to news agency PTI, Ishtiyaq is a resident of Mewat and an Imam at Al Falah Mosque in Faridabad's Dhera Colony.

He was staying in a rented house within the Al Falah University complex in Faridabad. It was from his home that police had recovered more than 2,500 kg of ammonium nitrate, potassium chlorate and sulphur.

Ishtiyaq was brought to Srinagar. He is likely to be placed under arrest.

Ninth arrest in 'white-collar' terror module case

Ishtiyaq will be the ninth person to be nabbed in the case by police, which carried out an interstate raid on November 10 along with their counterparts in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, to unravel a 'white-collar' terror network of banned Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat
    Hind.

Delhi blast linked to Faridabad terror module

In a breakthrough on Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Haryana Police, recovered 360 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate and 2,900 kg of IED-making materials, including chemicals, detonators, and wires, from an apartment in Faridabad.

According to reports, 2,900 kilograms of explosives were seized with the uncovering of a "white-collar terror module" involving the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat
Hind and spanning Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

In subsequent raids, 358 kilograms of additional explosive material, detonators, timers, were seized, sources told PTI, adding that approximately 3,000 kilograms of explosives and bomb-making equipment stored by this module was seized.

The explosive material was stored at Ishtiyaq rented residence by Dr Muzammil Ganaie alias Musaib and Dr Umar Nabi, the man who was driving an explosives-laden car which detonated outside Red Fort on Monday evening, killing 12 people.

Eight people, including three doctors connected to the Al-Falah University in Faridabad, were arrested hours before a blast killed at least 12 people near Red Fort in Delhi on November 11.

Dr Muzammil and Aadil Rather were arrested in this case.

According to CCTV footage, the car in which the Red Fort explosion occurred was being driven by one Umar, a member of this module. The explosion was caused by the same type of material stockpiled in Faridabad, from where nearly 3,000 kilograms of explosives were seized, the sources said.

Sources said whether the blast was pre-planned or accidental will be determined in further investigation.

As soon as news of the explosion came on Tuesday, the Delhi Police and other security agencies rushed to the site.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah immediately directed NSG, NIA, and forensic teams to reach the location. The injured were promptly taken to the nearest hospital, and the ownership of the vehicle used in the blast was confirmed.

Essential DNA, explosive, and other samples have been collected from the site and sent for forensic examination.

The investigation was has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency.
