135,487MT Of Goods Transported Via Railways In A Week
KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 135 metric tonnes of goods were transported through railways from four Afghan ports last week, the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) said on Tuesday.
On its X handle, MoPW spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas wrote these transportations took place from October 31 to November 6.
It said 97, 396 tonnes of goods were imported through Hairatan Port, 8,057 tonnes via Aqina Port, 18,823 tonnes through Torghundi Port, and 11,211 tonnes via Khawaf-Herat, totaling 135,487 metric tonnes.
The shipments included fuel, non-fuel and other items.
About 269 tonnes of commercial goods, including pomegranate juice, were exported.
According to the ministry, as the level of exports and imports through railways increase, it creates job opportunities, surges national revenues and put the country on the path to economic stability, development, and self-sufficiency.
