Security forces continued their operation on Tuesday against the three militants still trapped inside Cadet College Wana, a day after the college's main gate was targeted in a suicide blast.

According to security sources, all three militants hiding inside the premises are said to be Afghan nationals, adding that the attackers were constantly receiving instructions from Afghanistan over the phone as the operation unfolded.

The militants are holed up inside a building located at a significant distance from the cadets' residential area. Security sources said the clearance process was being carried out with great precision to ensure the safety of the cadets and prevent any harm to them.

Yesterday, on 10 November, Afghan militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the college's main gate, causing the gate to collapse and damaging nearby structures. Security personnel responded immediately and, in a swift action, eliminated two militants on the spot.

Security sources said that attackers targeting innocent students have no connection with Islam or the wellbeing of the people of Pakistan, adding that the operation will continue until the last militant is neutralised.
