New Zealander Tourist Converts To Islam In Kandahar
KABUL (Pajhwok): A New Zealander tourist visiting southern Kandahar province has embraced Islam, an official said on Monday.
Governor spokesman Mawlawi Mahmood Azam, told Pajhwok Afghan News through efforts of the Kherqa-e-Mutahhara administration, the visitor converted to Islam during his visit to the shrine.
The 63-year-old, named David, accepted Islam at the shrine and was given the new name Mohammad Dawood.
According to Azam, David previously followed Christianity.
Earlier, in March 2025, a resident of the United Kingdom had also embraced Islam while visiting Kandahar.
