Israel Continues to Commit Genocide Against Palestinians Despite Truce
(MENAFN) Israel continues to kill Palestinian civilians at an alarming rate, with an average of eight deaths per day since a ceasefire was enacted last month, according to Geneva-based rights organization Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor.
In a statement on Monday, the group highlighted that Israel’s "premeditated killing" of Palestinian civilians persists even a month after the ceasefire was agreed upon on Oct. 10 between Israel and Hamas.
"An average of eight Palestinians are killed daily under the ongoing comprehensive blockade on the Gaza Strip, alongside a policy of deliberate starvation ... denial of medical treatment for the wounded and sick, and the deliberate hindrance of humanitarian aid," the group said.
Euro-Med emphasized that the Israeli military continues to breach the ceasefire each day through aerial and artillery strikes, gunfire, and the ongoing demolition of homes and buildings, particularly in eastern Khan Yunis and Gaza City.
"These actions form part of a systematic approach to eroding the foundations of life in the Gaza Strip and denying its residents their most basic rights, in clear violation of international law," the statement added.
The organization recalled that Israeli attacks have killed 242 Palestinians over the past month, including 85 children, and injured approximately 619 others—averaging more than eight deaths and 20 injuries per day.
"This clearly shows that Israel has not ceased its policy of killing and systematically targeting Palestinians."
Part of a systematic pattern
Euro-Med warned that Israel is exploiting the "absence of international oversight" to reshape Gaza’s geographical landscape, using the ceasefire as a "cover" to render areas under its direct control effectively uninhabitable, both now and in the future.
The group also noted a continued policy of starvation in Gaza, with roughly 70% of aid required under the ceasefire agreement blocked from entry.
"This maintains the population in a state of controlled, chronic hunger, without addressing its causes or severe health consequences, and without visibly displaying the acute physical signs of malnutrition."
These measures, the statement stressed, are not isolated incidents but "part of a systematic pattern," reflecting a deliberate policy by Israel’s political and military leadership to use the ceasefire as a cover to continue genocide against Gaza residents.
Euro-Med added that the "continued silence" of the international community and the failure to activate accountability mechanisms give Israel practical cover to continue committing genocide.
Since October 2023, Israel’s war has killed over 69,000 people and injured more than 170,600, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
