Putin Wants To Destroy EU From Within Using His 'Fifth Column' Tusk

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said this in an interview with, Ukrinform reports.

According to Tusk, the massive Russian drone attack on Polish territory on the night of September 10 was a "hostile act, even an act of aggression."

"The war that Russia is waging against us is much more complex than it used to be. I have repeatedly raised this issue with our Western partners. A few years ago, it was very difficult to get through to them. Fortunately, they now understand that our assessment, that Russia, in a sense, is at war with the entire West, was correct," he said.

He noted that, in this context, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban accuses him of wanting war, but Tusk is convinced that the war is already underway (in Europe).

"In Poland, this manifests itself through arson, drone attacks, the situation on the border with Belarus, with the illegal transfer of migrants and the involvement of Belarusian special services, as well as increasingly aggressive cyberattacks. I do not want to go into details, but I have no doubt that the recent cyberattacks on several digital systems, not just BLIK, are the result of deliberate, planned sabotage," Tusk said.

He stressed that such actions across Europe will become more and more frequent.

"Because the war that Putin has declared on the West is also taking place within our societies, where it unfolds in the most striking ways. Putin has the tools to destroy the European Union as an organization, but also Europe as a cultural phenomenon. These tools are the Russian 'fifth column,' present in every European country," Tusk said.

As Ukrinform reported, a DDoS attack was recently recorded on Poland's popular payment system BLIK, and hackers also stole data belonging to clients of the well-known travel agency Nowa Itaka.

Polish forces shot down drones that violated the country's airspace on the night of September 10. Initially, it was reported that a total of 19 drones entered Poland's airspace during the night. Three or four of the drones were downed by Polish F-16s and Dutch F-35s.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that NATO allies were dealing with a "large-scale provocation" from Moscow.
