(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared Monday that Russian leader Vladimir Putin faces a strategic deadlock, resorting to widespread hybrid warfare—including energy strikes, cyber operations, and election meddling—to mask his military failures across Europe.

In a Telegram post, Zelenskyy asserted that Moscow's battlefield advances have stalled, forcing the Kremlin to pivot toward unconventional tactics that target both Ukrainian infrastructure and European democracies.

"Putin is in an impasse when it comes to real successes on the battlefield. The situation looks more like a stalemate for him," Zelenskyy said on Telegram, stressing that Ukrainian forces continue to defend their land and sovereignty.

The Ukrainian president argued that relentless Russian bombardments of power grids and energy facilities serve a dual purpose: creating a facade of momentum while projecting strength to domestic audiences skeptical of the war's direction.

"All the energy attacks are dangerous – to demonstrate: 'Look, I supposedly have a plan – there we pressure with weapons, and here we attack,'" Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy further alleged that Putin seeks to inflame nationalist sentiment at home while simultaneously undermining stability across the European Union through digital sabotage and interference in democratic processes.

"He wants to find some operations he can present as successes – drones, an energy attack on us, or a cyberattack on Germany, the United Kingdom, France, or an attack on choice, political choice, during elections," he said.

The wartime leader characterized Moscow's multi-pronged offensive as a "hybrid war in Europe," noting that Ukraine bears the gravest toll as combat rages within its borders.

The Kremlin has not responded to Zelenskyy's assertions.

The conflict, which erupted in February 2022, persists despite diplomatic interventions spearheaded by US President Donald Trump.
