Germany Plans To Increase Aid To Ukraine By €3 Billion In 2026 Reuters
Germany is the largest European donor of military aid to Ukraine, providing the country with about €40 billion since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
In its 2026 budget, Germany has allocated €8.5 billion to Ukraine.
“We will continue our support for as long as necessary to defend against Russia's war of aggression,” one government source told Reuters.
According to the sources, Germany's finance and defense ministers will add €3 billion for Ukraine to the final adjustments to the 2026 budget.
These funds will cover the costs of purchasing artillery, drones, armored vehicles, and replacing two Patriot systems.
A second government source told Reuters that German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz supports the plans, which are expected to be agreed upon.
