Srinagar- The higher reaches of Kashmir valley experienced fresh snowfall today, with the Meteorological Department forecasting further precipitation over the next 24 hours.

Officials said that Affarwat in the Gulmarg ski resort of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, Sinthan Top in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, Razdan Top in Bandipora district, and Zojila in Ganderbal district were among the areas to receive snowfall.

Meanwhile, Several plains, including Srinagar city and its adjoining localities, recorded light rainfall.

The vehicular movement on the Bandipora–Gurez road was suspended following fresh snowfall at Razdan Top. Officials said the move was taken purely as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of travellers.

Authorities have advised residents and tourists to exercise caution while travelling in higher reaches, as roads may be slippery due to snow and wet conditions.

MeT said widespread moderate to heavy rainfall, snow, and thunderstorms are expected across Jammu and Kashmir, while tomorrow it may see fairly widespread light to moderate rain, snow, and thunderstorms.
