Trump Announces Meta's $50 Billion AI Data Center In Louisiana
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that Meta is building its largest artificial intelligence data center in Louisiana, with an investment worth $50 billion.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Trump said the facility will be located in Richland Parish and will provide advanced computing power to support digital infrastructure and AI workloads.
According to Trump, the massive investment highlights America's drive to lead in artificial intelligence and secure the future of emerging technologies. He described the project as a milestone in U.S. digital competitiveness.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had revealed last month that the company plans to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in multiple large-scale AI data centers worldwide.
The Louisiana project will be the largest of its kind, underscoring Meta's ambition to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI industry.
The investment comes as Meta reorganizes its AI division under“Superintelligence Labs,” a move followed by the departure of several senior executives and limited uptake of its open-source AI model, Llama 4.
Despite these challenges, the company hopes that its new infrastructure will accelerate AI innovation and restore confidence in its long-term strategy.
The announcement is also expected to boost the local economy in Louisiana, creating jobs and placing the state on the global map of AI development.
