Kremlin Highlights US Envoy’s Mediation Efforts

(MENAFN) On Monday, the Kremlin underscored the “important” role that US special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, plays in facilitating dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv, particularly during his current visit to the Ukrainian capital.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, speaking to journalists during a press briefing, emphasized, “It is very important for us that Mr. Kellogg, as a representative of the team of (US President Donald) Trump, continues his efforts to provide mediation services within the framework of the Russian-Ukrainian settlement.”

Peskov highlighted the relevance of Kellogg’s mission amid ongoing tensions.

While Russia maintains no specific expectations from Kellogg’s presence in Ukraine, Peskov reiterated that Moscow remains prepared to enter into a third round of face-to-face discussions with Kyiv.

He also noted a lack of urgency from the Ukrainian side, stating, “It is obvious that Kyiv is in no hurry. We are still waiting for proposals (from Ukraine) on the timing.”

Responding to President Trump’s recent statement that Washington would dispatch an undisclosed number of Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, Peskov remarked that Russia operates under the assumption that US arms deliveries “have continued and continue.”

On the same day, Kellogg began his week-long visit to Kyiv, where he was received by Andriy Yermak, who serves as the head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, according to media outlets.
