Real Kashmir To Start Durand Cup Campaign Against Indian Navy

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar – J&K's top football club, Real Kashmir FC, will begin its 2025 Durand Cup campaign against Indian Navy FT on August 1. Per the tentative fixtures list released on Friday, the Snow Leopards will play their first Group Stage game of the 134th edition of the prestigious competition at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal, Manipur. The matchup will kick off at 4:00 PM.

The Srinagar-based club has been placed in Group F alongside TRAU FC, NEROCA FC and Indian Navy FT. A total of 24 teams are participating in the tournament.

Real Kashmir will next take on TRAU FC on August 4 at the same venue at 4:00 PM. Their third contest will pit them against NEROCA FC on August 10 at Lampak Main Stadium, with kick off at 4:00 PM.

Other top football clubs competing in the competition include Mohun Bagan SG, Mohammedan SC, East Bengal FC, 1 Ladakh FC, Punjab FC, Shillong Lajong FC, Northeast United FC, and two

foreign teams, among others.

For the first time, the Durand Cup will be played in five states, including Manipur's capital, Imphal; Kokrajhar, Assam; Jamshedpur, Jharkhand; Shillong, Meghalaya; and Kolkata, West Bengal.

The J&K Football Association congratulated the Snow Leopards on earning a place in the tournament.

“As the oldest football competition in Asia and a symbol of Indian football heritage, the Durand Cup is where legends are made. Real Kashmir FC's participation is a testament to the club's rising stature and the growing footballing excellence in Jammu & Kashmir,” the FA said in a statement.

The 2025 Durand Cup will kick off on July 23 with East Bengal facing South United FC at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake) Stadium in Kolkata. The tournament's ceremonial flag off took place on Friday at Rashtrapati Bhawan, with President of India Droupadi Murmu leading the celebrations.
