Türkiye Probes Spotify Over Alleged Anti-Competitive Practices

(MENAFN) Türkiye's Competition Board has launched an investigation into Spotify, scrutinizing the popular music streaming service for potentially anti-competitive practices, the board announced on Friday.

The regulatory body has expressed concerns that Spotify’s business strategies may be harming competition within the music industry. Specifically, the inquiry will assess whether the platform’s practices are obstructing the operations of its competitors in the online streaming market, as well as whether it is unfairly influencing the distribution of royalties among stakeholders in its licensing agreements.

Additionally, the investigation will explore claims of potential discrimination against artists and content creators on the platform, including how their visibility and treatment might differ.

In response, Spotify maintained that all of its operations are conducted in full accordance with legal regulations.
