UNRWA: Hunger In Gaza At Catastrophic Levels

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said Friday that hunger in Gaza has reached catastrophic levels, noting that people are falling unconscious in the streets from extreme hunger.
The UN agency said in a post on its Facebook page that Gaza residents are facing a complete shortage of everything from food to medicine, noting that the current aid distribution mechanism in Gaza has“humiliated hungry, scared, injured, and exhausted families and robbed them of their human dignity”.
It stressed the families in Gaza's desperate need for aid, noting that“when they attempt to retrieve the limited food allowed in by the Israeli authorities, they are shot”. It explained that the UN is calling for investigations into the killing and injury of Palestinians trying to access food through current food distribution in Gaza, and demanding that the blockade on the Strip be lifted.
