Ukrainians Among Passengers In Flixbus Crash In Germany


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The incident occurred in the federal state of Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania, according to a statement from local police , as reported by Ukrinform.

The crash took place around 2:40 on the BAB19 highway. The bus was traveling from Copenhagen to Vienna with 54 passengers and two drivers on board.

“Of the 56 people involved in this morning's bus accident, 25 were slightly injured and six were seriously injured,” the police report states.

All the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for medical assistance. One man with severe injuries was airlifted by rescue helicopter to Berlin.

Police confirmed that the passengers represented 23 different nationalities, including citizens of Germany, Ukraine, Sweden, Denmark, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, France, Italy, Syria, China, Australia, India, Canada, Japan, Somalia, and others.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and an investigation is ongoing. Interpreters have been involved to assist with communication.

The BAB19 highway was completely closed for over 10 hours due to rescue, evacuation, and cleanup operations. Property damage is currently estimated at around €500,000.

As previously reported, on April 29, a separate crash in Poland involving a bus and, shortly afterward, a truck in the same location injured 17 people, including 12 Ukrainians.
