Egypt Calls For Ending Israeli Aggression On Gaza, West Bank

(MENAFN- Nam News Network) CAIRO, Jul 4 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, yesterday, called for an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, urging the international community to assume its responsibilities, amid worsening conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Abdelatty made the remarks in a phone call with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, during which they discussed the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as, the ongoing Israel-Iran truce, according to a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Abdelatty updated Barrot on Egypt's ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid, and prepare for an international conference on the early recovery and reconstruction in the enclave.

The Egyptian minister also warned of the deteriorating conditions in the West Bank amid continued Israeli military raids, arrests, and the expansion of illegal settlements, the statement added.

He reiterated Egypt's call for a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian cause, through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

On Wednesday, Egypt strongly condemned recent statements by Israeli officials, calling for the annexation of the occupied West Bank, including remarks by Israeli Justice Minister, Yariv Levin, saying, such calls violate international law and undermine the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

The Israeli military campaign in Gaza has killed at least 57,130 Palestinians, including women and children, and injured 135,173 others, since the conflict began in Oct, 2023, according to an update released by Gaza's health authorities, yesterday.

Regarding the Israeli-Iranian tension, the Egyptian and French foreign ministers agreed on the need for both sides to commit to the ceasefire, calling for regional and international efforts, to consolidate the agreement, de-escalate tensions, and open the door to diplomatic efforts that contribute to regional security and stability, said the statement.– NNN-MENA
