Indonesia Denounces Israeli Assault Killing Gaza Hospital Director
(MENAFN) Indonesia sharply criticized an Israeli assault that claimed the lives of Marwan Al Sultan, the director of the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza, and his family, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported Thursday.
The Indonesian government expressed profound sorrow over the death of Al Sultan and his family, who tragically lost their lives on July 2, 2025, according to the ministry’s statement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed that Indonesia continues to closely monitor the situation at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza amid escalating violence, calling for an immediate halt to Israel's ongoing actions and demanding a ceasefire to prevent further casualties.
Humanitarian group MER-C Indonesia praised Marwan Al Sultan’s unwavering commitment to the people of Gaza, especially throughout the region’s enduring humanitarian crisis.
"Our hearts are filled with grief, and words can not express the magnitude of this loss," MER-C Indonesia stated in a written declaration.
In a joint statement alongside Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President Prabowo Subianto urged the global community to take decisive action to resolve Gaza’s humanitarian disaster and work towards long-term peace in the region.
Both leaders reiterated the critical necessity of ending Gaza’s suffering, condemned the use of blockades and starvation as war tactics, and firmly rejected any form of forced displacement of Palestinians.
