Rs440m Corruption Uncovered At D.I. Khan DHQ Hospital

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) A major corruption scandal involving Rs440 million has been uncovered at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has formally referred the case to the Anti-Corruption Establishment for further investigation and legal action.

According to the departmental report, significant financial irregularities and misappropriations have been detected across multiple departments of the hospital.

Pharmacist Anam Saeed and acting hospital director Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khan are accused of embezzling over Rs20 million worth of medicines.

The report highlights that corruption is widespread, affecting several departments and surpassing a total value of Rs440 million.

The report details that Rs130.5 million worth of medicines were stolen, while Rs40.3 million worth were illegally sold.

Additionally, medicines worth Rs20.5 million received from Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital have also gone missing.

Other irregularities identified include unauthorized hiring, suspicious contracts for CT scan machines, irregularities in solar system installation, and issues in the procurement and supply of medical gases.

The health department's letter urges swift action from the Anti-Corruption Establishment to hold those responsible accountable and recover the embezzled funds.
