Texas State Optical, Inc. Elects New Board Leadership And Appoints Interim CEO And President
SAN ANTONIO, July 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- During the 2025 Texas State Optical Annual Meeting, held at the Grand Hyatt Riverwalk, the organization's shareholder doctors gathered to conduct official business, celebrate achievements, and shape the future of the network. Among the highlights of the Shareholder Meeting was the announcement of newly elected Board leadership and the appointment of a new Interim CEO and President.
TSO is pleased to welcome a dynamic mix of experience and fresh perspective to its Board of Directors. Dr. Brian Shandley and Dr. Victoria Perez were elected to serve their first three-year terms, bringing new energy and insight to the board. Dr. Samir Patel was re-elected to serve a consecutive term, continuing his steadfast commitment to the TSO Network.
Additionally, Dr. James K. Kirchner was elected to serve as an outside director, succeeding Edward C. Buffington, whose third term concluded. Dr. Kirchner brings extensive knowledge of the optometric field and corporate governance to the role.
In a significant leadership transition, the Board also named Cindy Huynh as Interim CEO and President of Texas State Optical, following the resignation of John D. Marvin, who faithfully led the organization for 25 years.
Cindy has served as TSO's Director of Operations since 2014 and brings over three decades of experience in the optometric industry. Her deep understanding of the organization's operations and her strategic mindset make her well-equipped to lead TSO through this new chapter.
"It's an honor to serve an organization I've been part of for over a decade," said Cindy Huynh. "I have great respect for our doctors, our history, and the TSO mission. I'm excited to work alongside our board and network to build on our strengths and continue delivering exceptional care to the countless communities we serve."
John D. Marvin expressed his confidence and appreciation for the newly appointed Interim CEO and President, stating, "I've worked closely with Cindy for many years. Her operational expertise, dedication, and integrity will be instrumental in guiding TSO through this next phase."
As the newly elected Board assumes its responsibilities, and under the leadership of Interim CEO Cindy Huynh, TSO remains firmly committed to its vision: to be Texans' first choice in eye care. With a renewed sense of purpose and unity, the organization looks forward to continuing its mission of empowering doctors, serving patients, and driving excellence across its network.
