Russian cargo spacecraft ends its mission successfully

(MENAFN) The Russian cargo spacecraft Progress MS-29 has concluded its mission after over six months orbiting as part of the International Space Station (ISS), according to Russia’s state space agency Roscosmos.

The spacecraft safely deorbited, with its debris falling into a designated non-navigational zone in the South Pacific Ocean.

Roscosmos reported that Progress MS-29 undocked from the ISS’s Poisk module at 21:43 Moscow time (18:43 GMT) on Tuesday. A deorbit burn was performed at 00:52 Moscow time (21:52 GMT), guiding the spacecraft into Earth’s atmosphere where it mostly burned up due to atmospheric friction.

Launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome on November 21, 2024, Progress MS-29 docked with the ISS two days later. During its stay, it delivered critical supplies including fuel, drinking water, nitrogen for atmosphere maintenance, scientific instruments, and even New Year gifts.

The next cargo mission, Progress MS-31, is set to launch from Baikonur on Thursday and is expected to dock with the ISS on Sunday.
