
Bahrain Prepares 33 Shelters For Emergencies, Plans To Test Warning Sirens
Authorities in Bahrain will conduct a test of warning sirens nationwide at 9am on Tuesday, June 17, they announced while stressing that this is a routine procedure to ensure public safety in emergencies.
The move comes amid heightened tensions in the region as Israel and Iran exchange strikes for the fourth day since the start of Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic on Friday. Iran has since launched strikes on Israel in retaliation.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Bahraini Interior Ministry stated that the scheduled test aims to assess the operational readiness and effectiveness of the warning systems. The coverage of the emergency alert system is nationwide, it was clarified.
In light of the current regional developments, the Bahraini Cabinet also reviewed a detailed plan regarding the Kingdom's preparedness to address civil emergencies.

Protective measuresDuring the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, on Monday, the government directed the implementation of several protective measures.
It also assured the public of enhanced security and field readiness, with the National Civil Emergency Management Centre fully activated.
A total of 33 shelters are ready in Bahrain with activation measures in place as needed. Authorities are working to repatriate citizens stranded abroad due to flight suspensions and cancellations.
Regarding radiation levels, the Kingdom said that they are under continuous monitoring, with rapid response measures put in place to protect the public and the environment.
Israel has targeted many Iranian nuclear sites and caused severe damage. On June 14, the International Atomic Energy Agency was informed by Iran's Nuclear Regulatory Authority that off-site radiation levels remain unchanged in Isfahan.
Experts have so far reported limited damage to Iranian nuclear facilities .
Ample goods
Bahraini authorities have also announced that there is ample availability of essential goods and strategic food reserves to meet current needs. The flow of goods in and out of the country will be uninterrupted.
Local markets have a sufficient stock of medicines to cover all needs, and medical teams across Bahrain are fully ready. The government also made it clear that power generation is stable, and it is supported by emergency plans to ensure ongoing supply under all circumstances.
In addition to this, a secure water reserve system was out in place to ensure an uninterrupted supply.
