Israeli Strike On Iranian State TV Kills Two

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) An Israeli missile strike on Iranian state TV killed two staff members and briefly disrupted broadcasts.

Iranian media have reported that an Israeli missile strike on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) network resulted in the deaths of two employees - a news editor and a secretariat staff member.

The semi-official IRNA news agency, affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), confirmed the fatalities on Tuesday, June 17, following the attack on the IRIB headquarters.

According to reports, the strike briefly disrupted the IRIB's broadcasting services, cutting off transmissions for several minutes before resuming.

The Israeli military has confirmed responsibility for the attack, stating that the strike targeted the facility due to its alleged role as a“propaganda hub” controlled by the IRGC.

This strike forms part of a broader series of military confrontations between Israel and Iran, which have escalated in recent weeks amid growing regional tensions.

Analysts at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv and Iran International suggest the targeting of media facilities signals a new phase in hybrid warfare, where information infrastructure is increasingly treated as a strategic asset.

The international community, including press freedom organizations like Reporters Without Borders (RSF), have expressed concern over the implications of targeting journalists and media workers in armed conflicts, calling for accountability and adherence to international law.
