Trump Leaves G7 Summit Early
(MENAFN) United States Leader Donald Trump is scheduled to return to Washington, DC on Monday evening, concluding his attendance at the G7 summit in Canada earlier than planned, according to the White House.
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated on X that "President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer."
She emphasized that "much was accomplished," but due to escalating events in the Middle East, "President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State."
When questioned about his premature exit from the summit, Trump told journalists: "I have to be back early for obvious reasons."
He added, "I wish I could stay for tomorrow, but they understand this. This is big stuff." Referring to the urgency of the situation, he said, "You probably see what I see, and I have to be back as soon as I can."
According to a report by a news agency, Trump instructed the National Security Council to be ready in the situation room.
In an earlier message, he advised civilians in Tehran to evacuate "immediately" in light of mounting hostilities between Israel and Iran.
Trump commented, "Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life."
He reiterated, "Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!"
