GCC Emergency Centre Activated Amid Israeli-Iran Conflict

The GCC Emergency Management Centre has been activated in the aftermath of the Iran-Israel conflict .

The decision comes as part of preventive measures the region may face amid escalation of the conflict, including the consequences of any attack on nuclear facilities, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), said.

This could include effects on the environment, vital infrastructure, and on economic aspects, such as disruption to supply chains or the movement of trade and energy, as well as threatening vital waterways' safety.

However, so far, no cause for concern has been observed. Technical indicators remain within the safe range; a state of full alert is maintained only to ensure continuous vigilance and readiness, the GCC Secretary-General added.

The activation "ensures all necessary preventive measures are taken at environmental and radiological levels, while technical indicators are closely monitored in full coordination with member states' authorities via early warning systems."

"Technical reports and related data are promptly issued and published; the first statement to the media has already been released," he added.

All GCC countries condemned the Israeli military operations as dialogue and diplomacy efforts collapsed after the "attacks by the Israeli occupation forces' against Iran, and the response from Iran."

The GCC was founded on values of solidarity, and seeks to proactively prevent conflicts that could destabilise the Gulf and the world," Albudaiwi said.

"We renew our call to all countries and parties to exercise restraint and refrain from any military actions, in order to avoid a dangerous slide towards a wider conflict whose consequences cannot be predicted or controlled," the Secretary General said.
