Divergent Delivers Complex Flight Hardware For GA-ASI's SUAS
LOS ANGELES, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Divergent Technologies, Inc. (Divergent) today announced its support of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) in the design and manufacturing of a hybrid ground- and air-launched unmanned aircraft.
Divergent manufactured the metallic core structure of the small, unmanned aircraft system (SUAS) using its Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPSTM). The structure was designed and produced to meet tight performance, integration, and payload requirements. The program demonstrates both a collaborative and modular approach to aircraft development using both metallic additive and conventional manufacturing.
DAPS is an end-to-end engineering design and manufacturing system leveraging AI-driven design, industrial-rate additive manufacturing, and universal robotic assembly to enable structures development and manufacturing at higher performance, speed, and scalability than conventional manufacturing systems.
The GA-ASI and Divergent partnership is pushing the boundaries of DAPS technology within the defense landscape. A number of the vehicle's structurally complex elements combine multiple functions into a single component, making the vehicle both higher performing and more cost-effective than a comparable conventionally manufactured system composed of numerous discrete functional systems. Divergent's successful development and production further validates its ability to manufacture integrated aerospace assemblies to a high standard of precision and reliability.
The SUAS is designed for compatibility with a range of launch platforms, including fixed-wing aircraft, rotary-wing aircraft, and ground vehicles. It is intended to serve as a low-cost, attritable system to support and extend the reach of manned platforms.
"This SUAS development program shows our ability to deliver complex, flight critical hardware and integrate seamlessly with a U.S. Department of Defense contractor and customer across the design lifecycle of a system," said Lukas Czinger, President & CEO of Divergent.
About Divergent
Divergent has created the world's first end-to-end software-hardware production system for industrial digital manufacturing – the Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPSTM) – allowing customers to design, additively manufacture, and automatically assemble complex structures for automotive, aerospace, and defense applications. DAPS transforms the economics, speed, and scalability of defense vehicle manufacturing by optimizing designs, dematerializing structures, and eliminating upfront capex.
