Amman, June 11 (Petra) – The Jordanian pavilion at the Africa Food Expo, which opened Tuesday evening in Cape Town, South Africa, is drawing considerable attention from visitors exploring the Kingdom's food products, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the Jordan Exporters Association.
Organized by the association, the Jordanian participation marks the Kingdom's debut at the event and signals a strategic step toward expanding food exports into promising African markets.
Senator Ahmad Khudari, president of the association, said the presence of local industrial companies at the three-day exhibition highlights Jordan's leadership in the food industry and reinforces its standing as a reliable regional and international supplier. He stressed that the initiative supports economic growth by boosting exports and creating job opportunities.
Khudari noted that the exhibition serves as a platform connecting Jordanian producers with major global and African companies, distributors, and importers, thus enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to expand their reach and respond to increasing demand for high-quality food products.
He said the pavilion presents a key opportunity to showcase premium Jordanian items including dates, olive oil, canned goods, herbs, spices, and coffee to international buyers and suppliers, opening doors to new markets.
Khudari also pointed to the ongoing cooperation between the Jordan Exporters Association, the Chambers of Industry, and the Jordan Export Company in organizing trade missions and collective participation in international exhibitions, thereby strengthening efforts to promote Jordanian goods in non-traditional markets.
For his part, Halim Abu Rahma, Director General of the association, said participation in the expo is part of broader efforts to support exporters and build trade ties with African countries, a region with a population exceeding 1.4 billion.
He added that the association aims to gather field data during the exhibition to inform a future roadmap for Jordanian exports to Africa and position Jordanian products as a mark of quality and trust in global markets.
Abu Rahma stressed that South Africa is a gateway to other African markets and that the continent offers significant opportunities due to its vast size and diverse import needs. He underlined the importance of establishing sustainable partnerships with African importers and distributors to enhance the competitiveness and accessibility of Jordanian products.
