Ukraine Reports Fatalities, Injuries in Russian Drone Strike
(MENAFN) Ukraine reported Wednesday that a nighttime drone strike by Russian forces on the northeastern city of Kharkiv resulted in at least three fatalities and injured 60 others.
“In the city of Kharkiv, two people died, 60 people were injured, including nine children aged 2 to 15,” Governor Oleh Synyehubov stated on Telegram. He later confirmed that one of the injured victims had succumbed to their injuries.
According to Synyehubov, the assault focused on Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts, with Russia allegedly deploying 15 drones in the attack.
The governor also noted that the strikes inflicted damage on nine apartment buildings, three private homes, a factory, and 13 vehicles.
Providing additional details, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said the bombardment occurred between 00:31 and 00:40 local time (2131GMT to 2140GMT). He emphasized that emergency responders and volunteers were actively engaged in relief operations.
Later, Ukraine’s Air Force claimed on Telegram that it had intercepted 49 out of 85 drones launched by Russia during the night’s barrage.
Situated approximately 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the Russian border, Kharkiv—Ukraine’s second-largest city—has repeatedly come under fire amid the ongoing conflict.
As of now, Russian officials have not issued a response to Ukraine’s accusations.
